Wow! Time sure flies by! It seems like just yesterday when I changed her diaper for the very first time! All 6pounds 9 oz of her. I felt God in an incredibly intimate way that day. She was the answer to an 8year long prayer. Now she is 4 years old! As I type this, she is clomping around in my boots and Kaci's pink cap trying to sweet talk me into a snack. She's very good at the sweet talk. Unfortunately, she has her parents wrapped tightly around her little finger. Mommy more so than Daddy. Of all the things I know about parenting, I knew to watch out for this! I was not prepared! And we have 5 children! You'd think I would have been on my guard more. But love is blind my friends!
So you know that we have birthday weeks here at the Carrell house. It gives us the opportunity to give them some special one on one time which is hard when you have even 2 children. Even though Emma does think she is an only child, she is not and the birthday week applies to her, as well. So, this is how it went.
December 31: The Big Day! We had breakfast of donut holes with pink sprinkles. (one of her favs) We went to McDonald's for lunch. McDonald's is rarely my favorite place to go but they always get their choice on the bday and we are very excited to go wherever they choose! Dinner was a Mi Familia because Emma loves their Sopapillas. She did request that no one sing to her in the restaraunt. If you know Emma at all, she is very shy. It's hard to believe but it's true. She only likes attention on her own terms....otherwise, she gets very uncomfortable scowls and shuts down in embarrassment. So, there was no singing and no sombrero! We had disney princess bday cake and icecream at home later. Her gifts were a stroller and new baby from mom and dad, super cute outfit from the Aardal's, A Poodle that says her name and grows from Grandma and Grandpa, Cash from the Hazzard's and Meema, Homemade gifts from her siblings, and a compact and other goodies from Mamaw...oh and lots of sweet texts and bday cards from family/friends that she carries with her in her purse. She loves mail!
Emma's bday falls during the school holidays so we put off her one on one time until the kids go back to school. Her bday week plans are: Go to the park; Go to Starbucks; Ride the bucking bull at Walmart(but only as long as no one is watching); and maybe go to the Movie Featre. (seriously, that's how she says it) We will do all the above.
Where has the time gone.......
